Chiefs 3peat implodes – Eagles avenge 2023 loss

At the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Philadelphia Eagles secured their second Super Bowl title. They defeated Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, dominating the game from kick off and stopping the Chiefs’ dreams of a historic 3peat.

The Eagles dominance started early as they raced to a 24-0 lead by half time, completely wiping the floor with the Chiefs as their defence kept star man Patrick Mahomes quiet. Throughout the whole game, they managed to sack him six times, along with forcing multiple turnovers. Rookie player, Cooper DeJean made a massive impact when he intercepted a possible touchdown for The Chiefs, contributing to their commanding halftime lead.

Despite The Chiefs late surge, including touch downs in the third and fourth quarters, the deficit proved unconquerable. Mahomes continued to struggle the whole game with the relentless pressure from Eagle’s defence, it resulted in one of the most difficult games of his career. He struggled to link up with his usual partner, Travis Kelce, who also had an extremely poor game.

At halftime, Kendrick Lamar performed and he brought out special guest SZA to perform their collaborative song, ‘all the stars.’ To wrap up his performance, he sang his multi Grammy winning song, ‘not like us.’ This song is a diss track on his former friend and fellow artist, Drake.

This Super Bowl was a rematch of the one in 2023, where on that day, the Chiefs were triumphant. They won with narrow score of 35-38. This victory was redemption for the Eagles, with the added bonus of stopping the Chiefs from winning 3 championships in a row, which has never been done before. Many fans took to social media to criticise the team, with other fans also shocked about how much KC were dominated.
