In an early post from ‘truth social’ Trump criticised the UK government for signing an agreement on 22nd May 2025 between the government of the UK and Northern Ireland and the government of the republic of Mauritius, that transfers control of the Chagos Archipelago, including Diego Garcia, home to on the most important U.S. and UK military bases. Under the deal, Britain and the US will lease the base back for 99 years at £101 million a year, a brand Trump branded a dangerous game.
