Buchanan Galleries hosts festive fundraising campaign for children’s hospital

Watch a video summary:

Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity (GCHC) is partnering with Buchanan Galleries to raise money for patients at Scotland’s largest children’s hospital.

Events include a pop-up gift shop, a gift-wrapping station, musical performances and Santa’s Grotto.

Inside the bustling shopping centre, the choir is carolling while shoppers queue up to get their presents wrapped.

Maha, a regular volunteer with GCHC, is at the gift-wrapping station.

“I like gift wrapping the best because it’s a lot more hands-on,” she said.

“It’s like you’re giving something, but you’re also being kept busy.”

The fundraising events will continue until 24 December, with a similar campaign taking place at Silverburn Shopping Centre.

Since 2001, GCHC has raised over £50 million to improve the facilities and services for children in hospital across the West of Scotland.

Based at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, GCHC invests in new equipment, activities, medical research, and support for families.

In 2024, the charity took over Crossbasket House, which provides accommodation for families of children receiving treatment.
