Scottish football fans have been left fuming with the SFA after the confirmation of two upcoming friendly matches at Hampden.

As the run up to the World Cup 2026 starts to begin Steve Clarke’s men will face fellow finalists Japan and Curaçao.

The first game will see the national stadium welcome the Japanese on the 28th of March with a 5pm kick off then a few months later face Curaçaoans on the 30th of May at 1pm which has been titled as the final send off before the team heads over to America.

The cry for a Scotland game to be played on a Saturday was finally delivered to the fans with both games being played on a Saturday. The Curaçao game was met without any complaints from the Tartan Army, However, the same could not said the same for the Japan game.

The scheduled 5pm kick off has been put on the same day as a full game day list of 3pm kick offs in the SPFL’s Championship, League one and League Two, which carries a strong following of the national team’s fan. The reaction from the supporters has been nothing but confusion and rage with many taking to X to voice their thoughts on the decision.

This is what one supporter had to say on X

Michael Bochel former Digital Marketing for the SFA, took to X to have his say.

“When I worked at the Scottish FA, we constantly got complaints that games weren’t on a Saturday.

Game gets put on a Saturday and they are getting complaints.

Never going to win unfortunately as there is no ideal scenario”.

The call now from fans all over social media is for the SFA to push back the kickoff time to allow supporters to support both clubs and country without making them choose between the two. The SFA is yet to comment on the reaction from the supporters.
