The alleged feud between two of Britain’s most experimental pop girls may have just halted at last.
There has been a suspected rift between Charli xcx and FKA twigs ever since February 2023, when Charli tweeted: “don’t be fake to me ever again at a party / in the street / wherever i see u – i know what u say.”
The following day, the clashing stars had both unfollowed each other on Instagram, causing fans to speculate that the tweet was directed towards the ‘Eusexua’ singer.

This was after a breakup between FKA twigs and Matt Healy of The 1975, who is a close friend of Charli’s. Mere months later, Charli had released ‘Von dutch’ as the lead single for her 2024 project ‘BRAT’ with certain lyrics that fans suggested could have been aimed towards FKA twigs.
Yesterday, A24 studios announced a new movie on X titled ‘Mother Mary,’ starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel. What attracted fans to the tweet most was the indication of a collaboration between Charli xcx, FKA twigs, and Jack Antonoff for the original film score.
Charli took to X alongside this, saying: “wrote and produced songs for this film alongside some amazing people <3 excited for you to see.”
Fan reactions to the two groundbreaking entertainers being credited alongside each other have been immense on X so far:
“the war is over” – beforethefevers
“YOU AND TWIGS WORKING IT OUT FINALLY” – xcx_angelvv
“YOU MADE UP WITH FKA TWIGS ?! THIS IS LIKE GAY CHRISTMAS” – freemeebaebee

Whether or not the suspected rivalry existed, these two stars have never worked together, so this is an exciting time to be a fan of both.
The trailer for ‘Mother Mary’ drops later today, and fans are expecting a snippet of the new original music alongside it.
