Celtic Deadline Day drama

Hectic Deadline Day leaves Celtic weaker than before it started, with their number one striker heading down south and losing out on the chance to find a replacement. The Scottish Champions did secure a 23-Year-Old Tunisian winger on the final day.

Who is the new winger?

In the late hours Celtic confirmed the signing of winger Sabastain Tounekti who boss Brendon Rodgers claims is expecting to make a ‘big difference’.

He joins from Hammarby for an undisclosed fee, but rumoured to be around £5million – the winger has signed a contract lasting 5 years.

The Norway-born midfielder was only in Sweden since February, but made 23 appearances for the side scoring 3 goals – but here’s the catch – he only made one start out of those 23 appearances.

Rodgers has claimed that “he will be a really exciting addition” to the Celtic squad list.

What is happening with the Celtic strikers?

Swansea completed the signing of Celtic striker Adam Idah for £7million leaving Celtic without a registered frontman after failing to bring in Kasper Dolberg from Anderlecht.

Idah joined Celtic for a fee of £9.5million from English side Norwich after spending a season on loan at the club.

He now leaves the club after scoring 29 goals in his 76 appearances over the two seasons.

Celtic looked to find a replacement for the position in bringing in Kasper Dolberg from Anderlecht, but the deal broke down and is now rumoured to sign for Dutch side Ajax.

But what happened to these rumoured moves

Hoops fans thought there was more late night drama when rumours emerged on social media that Rodgers was to be reunited with Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Nigerian midfielder played under him at Leicester City before moving to La Liga to be with Sevilla.

But sensationally, he was released on a free by the Spanish club fuelling speculation that he was on his way to Glasgow.

This hasn’t materialised yet, but because he’s a free agent, he can still technically sign for Celtic, even though the transfer window is now shut.

Chelsea to the rescue?

Sadly not. A deal to bring David Datro Fofana to the east of Glasgow fell flat before the 11pm Scottish deadline.

And to rub salt into the wounds of the fans, Fofana was rumoured to want to go to Charlton over the Scottish Premier League.

The blow now leaves the champions with only three registered centre-forwards; Shin Yamada, Johnny Kenny and Callum Osmund. Will this be enough to retain the title?
