A popular Edinburgh cinema is giving away their old film seats.
The Edinburgh Filmhouse on Lothian Road, a once popular cinema that is set to reopen next year, is inviting film fans to have their old seats. These famous seats can be obtained for a donation to their CrowdFunder of at least £25. Those who are interested have until midnight on Sunday the 27th of October to email their interest to info@filmhouse.org.uk.
One film fan, an Ali from Fife, has used the seats to make a home cinema. There is a hope that this will inspire others to do the same. Whilst many of the seats are in a poor shape, it is still worth owning a part of Edinburgh film history.
The Edinburgh Filmhouse was a popular cinema from the 1970s onwards and was home to the world renowned Edinburgh International Film Festival. With various fundraising efforts and the likes of public figures such as Jack Lowden championing the cause, it is hoped that it will reopen in March 2025.
