Ravie Davie stars in wrestling event at Cardonald campus

Glasgow Clyde College felt the smackdown recently, with a special appearance from Community Pro Wrestling (CPW) at the Cardonald campus.

The grunt-and-groan gala on 30th September was held as part of the college’s freshers festivities, with matches held throughout the day in the first-floor communal area.

It was a first for CPW, who run regular shows across the Greater Glasgow area, having held their first show in Govan in October 2021.

CPW is run by TikTok sensation Ravie Davie, who featured in multiple matches throughout the event, and roused the crowd with promos in the ring.

The air was thick with the smell of deep heat as students were entertained by a cavalcade of babyfaces and villainous heels, who delighted and riled the audience throughout.

The competitors included “the Big Strong Man”, listed as weighing in at “200 pounds of ginger steel, with some added sex appeal” and Thatcher Wright, who came to the ring holding a copy of Margaret Thatcher’s autobiography while draped in a Union Jack with a picture of the Iron Lady on it. You could imagine the crowd’s reaction to the appearance.

The event was held to promote the company’s new strand of adults-only shows, Hardcore Wrestling From Glasgow (HWFG) which promises a grittier, bloodier form of wrestling, in licensed venues selling alcohol, designed to appeal to an older audience.

Ravie Davie also offered those in attendance a student discount off classes at his Glasgow School of Wrestling, where prospects learn the ropes and take their first steps to becoming the next Stone Cold Steve Austin or Bryan Danielson.
