A new poster showing the key moments of Glasgow’s history has been created by an international award-winning artist and broadcaster.
Edward Chisnall, who hails from the city has created the piece which depicts many different locations and iconic statues across the city, from the ancient Bishop bridge to the Clutha Ferry, the Cenotaph in George Square and many of Glasgow’s great towers.
Only 500 of the pieces below will be sold with a percentage of the proceeds going towards the Lord Provost Charity Funds – Glasgow City Council
It’s just one of a number of creative projects being organised by the Lord Provost’s office to mark the celebrations.
As part of the year long commemorations, Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren says she is looking forward to working with the youngest residents, in particular: “For young people, they are the future of the city so they are the people that really should be involved in every aspect of the celebrations this year”.
Schools across Glasgow took part in a week long festival which involved 40,000 pupils who each received a special 850 birthday badge. All the activities are aimed to give the young people a chance to get creative and engage with the history of the city.
Those who are looking to volunteer at any of the events can do so throughout the year by visiting the 850 website and following the volunteering instructions.
