Glasgow’s Clyde Chorus 2025: A Musical Celebration of 850 Years in Glasgow

The City of Glasgow is set to celebrate its 850th anniversary with the Clyde Chorus, a music festival from May 29 to May 31, 2025, celebrating the city’s musical heritage and its designation as a UNESCO City of Music.

The 23 wards of Glasgow will also be hosting their own events and celebrations; these events will be funded through the 850-festival fund. Glasgow 850 – Glasgow 850

The festival starts with performances by Nathan Evans and The Saint Phnx Band, alongside a special performance by Scottish Opera featuring 300 schoolchildren in a production titled ‘Built on the Clyde’.

SWG3 Warehouse showcasing the emerging talents from Glasgow’s colleges, the venue will feature performances by such as DJ Beth, known for her dynamic house and disco sets.

The Savings Bank, which is hosting a variety of performances including the Glasgow Mela and Jazz Festival Showcase, Lucia & The Best Boys, and a special Celtic Connections Night.

The Pearce Institute, featuring artists like Nina Nesbitt and The Glasgow Barons, along with musicians, this venue emphasizes Glasgow’s diverse musical landscape.

And the Box Hub Vennel, A family-friendly day with events like Mini Manoeuvres, ensuring entertainment for all ages.

Riverside Procession parade starting at Millennium Square, Pacific Quay, featuring local dance companies and pipe bands, culminating at the Crowne Plaza.

Community Choir Performances, an afternoon of choral music at Govan Cross, showcasing local talent and community spirit. Sonica Presents UAXUCTUM, immersive audio-visual experience by Konx-om-Pax at Glasgow’s IMAX, blending experimental sound with generative visuals.

One of the group performers named “Liberation” has given their insight on what they think of participating in such homogeneous event for the first time. The band members who all study at Glasgow Clyde College’s Langside campus said: “ It’s exciting I think, you get a little bit like scared then you go, it’s kind of cool to be in it”.

To encourage widespread participation, ticket prices are set at £8.50 with concessions at £4.50, and First Bus is offering free two-trip tickets for festival attendees to promote sustainable travel for the event. Additional information is available at Glasgow 850th Lineup Revealed for costs.
