Camelon Juniors Condemn Pitch Invaders After Post-Match Disorder

Camelon Juniors Football Club have promised to ban fans and offer full reimbursements after trouble broke out on the pitch at the end of their Scottish Cup match with Elgin City.

In a statement posted on the club’s facebook page, Camelon Juniors said it was “aware of the unacceptable behaviour” that took place after full-time and confirmed they had already identified several of those involved.

It continued saying: “The club will be issuing bans to those responsible in line with our disciplinary process”, adding that the behaviour “does not reflect the values of Camelon Juniors FC and will not be tolerated.”

The club also apologised to Elgin City and their supporters adding they would be contacting the club directly in order to arrange “full reimbursement for the flags taken from Elgin supporters” during the incident.

This followed the emergence and circulation of footage online showing a number of Camelon Junior fans invading the pitch after the final whistle of their 3-1 defeat, and confronting the visiting Elgin City fans.

In several of the images that have been shared through social media, individuals seem to be carrying tools, including what appears to be a screwdriver.

Camelon has insisted that those involved represent only a small minority of their supporters and stressed that firm action would be taken against anyone identified. The club has assured it was working to ensure similar incidents don’t occur again.

Reaction to the footage on social media has been immense, with many users coming out in the comment sections in order to condemn the behaviour whilst raising their own concerns about safety and anti social behaviour at junior and lower-league matches.

Others have welcomed the speed of Camelon Juniors response, particularly with the decision to issue bans and reimburse visiting supporters. One social media user who left a comment under the club’s statement said: “There are always some bampots that spoil it for the club and decent supporters. Well done for calling it out soon as possible.”

  • Well done on the quick response – it’s shame to see that many of these individuals are under 18. Is there more than can be done to deter anti social behaviour like this at games?

  • Very sad giving a great wee place to live a bad name this is not what the majority off camelon residents act and we are all disappointed with this behaviour on a special day .

  • Think boys were an embarrassment to club probably hardly at a game should be banned from going to any football matches in my option
My grandson pays a fortune to go his teams games just to support his team not to cause any problems for his team
Think parents should be spoken too to so they can guide then to make better choices in life

  • Its a great shame to see young people particpsting in this sort of copy cat behaviour at football matches, especially in the lower levels where positive community engagement should be a strong and meaningful feature of the clubs activties. The Safer Communities Youth Action Project works exhaustively with young people from Camelon snd Tamfourhill and this type of behaviour seems uncharacteristic for local young people. Hopefuly the football club can work constructively with the local community to address this concerning incident.

  • Absolutely no need for this its wastes the day for people especially family’s that attend and also takes away from the reason everyone is there to watch and enjoy a game of football but we’ll done to the boys for frightening little children

  • It’s really upsetting that families are being made to feel uncomfortable attending a junior football match that should be about enjoyment, teamwork and community. The actions of a small minority do not reflect the values of our club or our town. I’m encouraged to see the club taking this seriously and acting swiftly, and I hope those responsible are identified so this can be addressed properly. Our kids deserve a safe, positive environment to play and be supported.

  • it’s such a shame that a few individuals can cause upset and havoc during what should have been a family event. I think the club has responded well in their actions through bans and reimbursement to the other team. However, I hope the offenders realise that this will affect the much needed finances of their home team.

  • I have to say this one is written better than many media outlets.
Some of these youngsters have been posted throughout social media. So glad to see you didn’t use any of their photos. Comments have been horrendous. I do think Camelon Juniors should look at working with the young people and adopt a learning process,
These young people are copy behaviour of adults – with the rise as they call it of ultras.
