Future stars of the hairdressing industry gathered at Glasgow Clyde College on the 19th of May, for an inspiring showcase led by some of the UK’s top professionals as part of the British fellowship.
The event held at the Cardonald campus, welcomed professionals including Colin McAndrew, UK Style Director at Wella Professionals, and Brian McCallum, an expert colourist and owner of Roar and Beauty based in Glasgow.
Both stylists captivated students and staff alike with live demonstrations, industry insights and advice for a successful career in hairdressing.
The Fellowship for British Hairdressing is a venture which unites education institutions with high-level specialists in the industry allowing the experts to support and mentor the next generation of hair talent across the UK.
Speaking at the event, Brian McCallum, known for his expertise and success said: “I’m a salon owner in Glasgow. We have three salons in Glasgow, and I’m here representing the Fellowship of British Hair Dressing.
“It is an amazing, innovative education platform and creativity platform for all hairdressers around Britain.”
Students were given a behind the scenes look at industry trends, including salon practices. Interactive sessions allowed to ask questions and receive personal feedback from visiting professionals.
Colin McAndrew spoke to staff about the importance of education and learning in the evolving hair industry:
“On going education is vital. Without it we become really stale. We always have to keep on progressing, because fashion is constantly evolving.”
The event concluded with many opportunities and strong messages of inspiration.
For many of the students at the event, it was a defining moment in their college journey, made possible by the British fellowship’s commitment to education.
